The Zeb zero emissions boiler

17% of the UK’s emissions come from heating our homes.

Most of us heat our homes using a gas or oil boiler.

Unfortunately burning gas or oil to provide heating creates huge amounts of local pollution and carbon emissions.

Home heating is likely to be one of your single biggest sources of carbon. Upgrading to a ZEB means no more burning oil or gas to heat your home, so no more flue.

The ZEB is a plug-n-play, low carbon replacement for your current boiler

The ZEB works like a battery for heat: charging up using low carbon electricity and then delivering heat to your home when needed.

Our smart charging algorithm calculates when and how much to charge based on your energy tariff, keeping running costs low.

The ZEB is easy and quick to install and works with your existing heating system. Ditching fossil fuels, without a fuss.

How does the ZEB work?

The ZEB is powered by electricity and works like a battery to store energy as heat until it is needed. Electric heating elements charge up a “core” inside the ZEB - storing a lot of energy in a small footprint.

Our patented heat-management technology then cleverly releases the heat to your radiators, underfloor heating and water tank when your thermostat calls for it.

Intelligent Heating

Our Smart Charging algorithm charges the ZEB at the cheapest and greenest times of the day, ready for when you need it.

This factors in local weather, how much heat your home uses, the carbon intensity of electricity and the pricing of your energy tariff. The ZEB works best with “time of use” or “flexible” tariffs where the price you pay for electricity changes throughout the day.

The ZEB can also charge using electricity generated by solar PV or other generation sources.*

How does Smart Charging work?

The ZEB uses machine learning to calculate when and how much to charge throughout the day: taking the hassle out of low carbon heating.

  1. First, the ZEB learns how much heat your home needs and uses local weather forecasts to make a prediction for the day ahead.
  2. Next, the ZEB works out how much to charge and when to do it based on your tariff pricing, the grid carbon intensity and predicted heat demand.
  3. As the day unfolds, the ZEB constantly checks its level of charge and re-calculates to make adjustments throughout the day if needed.
  4. You are always in control - the tepeo app lets you adjust or set how the ZEB should charge and you can always boost the ZEB manually.

We know heating and hot water is important.

We know heating and hot water is important - that's why your ZEB comes with up to a 10-year guarantee.

Like with all boilers and heat pumps, some maintenance is required to keep your ZEB working at its best. As a minimum, you can arrange an annual ZEB Health Check for £149 / year.

Alternatively, for £10 / month, our tepeo Care plan can offer peace of mind, helping to maintain your 10-year guarantee by providing the routine checks your ZEB needs.

Is a ZEB right for my home?

The ZEB is a great low carbon heating solution, but it isn’t right for every home. There are a few key criteria to help check if its the right option for you:

  • Your home uses between 3,000-12,000kWh of energy per year for heating & hot water (roughly 1,100L of oil). You can find an estimate on your energy bill
  • You have a ‘wet’ heating system (radiators or underfloor heating) and a hot water tank - or are happy to get one!
  • You have space for the ZEB on an accessible, solid and level surface - typically on the ground floor
  • We don’t (yet!) cover the whole of the UK, but are expanding fast. If you aren’t yet in our area of coverage, we’ll be in touch as soon as we reach you
